Tractor Trailer at Construction Site Flips, Spills Gravel Load

By Missouri Truck Accident Attorney on October 13, 2009

A story from suburbanchicagonews.com reported that on September 30, 2009, after a tractor trailer flipped on its side, spilling its load of gravel, the 37-year-old driver suffered a leg injury. Apparently the tractor trailer ended up on its right side after the driver turned the vehicle to the left while dumping gravel at a construction site on Patterson Road in Joliet. According to the story, the tractor trailer accident took place at 11 a.m. and the La Moille driver was transported to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center to receive medical treatment. Although it is unfortunate that any kind of injury resulted from this accident, luckily, no other workers were injured from the heavy truck flipping.

Truck drivers who are in charge of carrying, dumping, and transporting heavy materials, such as gravel, at a construction site must be constantly aware of nearby surroundings, surroundings that may include construction workers on-foot or in vehicles, explosive or hazardous materials, and any items being lifted or hauled. Some factors that could have influenced this particular accident may be attributed to the driver lacking proper training to dump and transport a gravel load, too much gravel loaded in the tractor trailer, or a truck defect related to the vehicle’s steering, wheels, or other vital parts.

When accidents and subsequent injuries occur as a result of an employer or contractor failing to uphold required safety standards, or if a truck owner fails to maintain the vehicle’s parts, injured victims may be able to seek compensation from negligent parties. Not only are leg injuries, head injuries, and other serious injuries physically painful, but they can also be very expensive when multiple surgeries, physical therapy, and lengthy hospital stays are required.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a tractor trailer accident and believe that another person’s negligence is to blame, you may be able to hold those responsible liable for your suffering and the financial costs associated with your injuries. At Page Cagle, experienced St. Louis tractor trailer accident attorney John Page has assisted many injured victims in receiving the compensation they deserve. Tractor-Trailer Injures Many in Chain Reaction Crash

By Missouri Truck Accident Attorney on September 22, 2009

A chain-reaction crash occurred in a construction zone on Interstate 44 near St. Robert. According to a waynesvilledailyguide.com report, the collision was caused by the driver of a tractor-trailer when he failed to stop in time and plowed into the back of a 1994 Toyota, which in turn hit a 2003 Toyota, 2008 Chrysler, and a 1999 Ford Pickup. Seven people were injured in the accident, including the 59-year old tractor trailer driver and a passenger.

Reckless driving led to these injuries. As we all know, construction zones require an extra degree of attentiveness from motorists. Disregard for traffic laws in relation to construction zones can appropriately be deemed a negligent act, in which all motorists, large truck drivers included, should be held accountable for all instances where their negligence causes an accident.

Driver inattention is especially problematic amongst truck drivers. Whether drivers are communicating on their radios with other truckers, are weary from having driven an extensive amount of hours, or are possibly under the influence of an illicit substance, inattention to the road and posted speeds limits will almost always lead to an accident. All instances of personal injury, property damage, and wrongful death caused by a negligent truck driver should not be overlooked.

If you have been injured by a reckless truck driver in Missouri, you’ll need a St. Louis skilled truck accident attorney to examine the details surrounding your crash to determine where negligence played a determining factor, and whom the negligence can be attributed to. The experienced personal injury lawyers at Page Cagle have the necessary experience to successfully litigate your personal injury trucking accident case.
